Franco G. Arce is a film director, writer, and producer with a diverse background in theater, TV, and film. His artistic journey began as a theater artist in Dulaang Balintataw and Actor’s Medium, where he honed his craft and developed a profound appreciation for the power of drama. He produced theater plays as artistic director of Tambuli Theater Productions Philippines during the early 2000’s and staged notable theater productions in the city of Marikina.
When he worked as a segment producer for block-time television magazine shows like KidsTV and DoubleTeam, Franco discovered his passion for digital media. This newfound interest led him to pursue filmmaking, and he embarked on an inspiring path, working as either an assistant director or script supervisor/continuity director for film productions, ranging from local independent films to mainstream movies and even collaborating on international projects such as Baseco: Bakal Boys, Grave Mistake, Lilet Never Happened, and the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival entry: My Little Bossings, and more.
With eagerness to improve his storytelling skills, Franco seized the opportunity to participate in the scriptwriting workshop under the tutelage of the esteemed national artist for film, Mr. Ricky Lee. This invaluable experience broadened his creative horizons and enhanced his storytelling aptitude.
Drawing from his rich background in theater, television, and film, Franco’s artistic experiences form a solid foundation for his work as a writer, director, and producer. His directorial debut was Isang Butil na Kahapon.
He went on to produce and direct the suspense thriller Beyond That Door and Juan Balucas at ang Bayabas. His most recent work is the family-comedy film Besprens in Tandem.
Franco is currently developing several full-length film projects: NONI: Rise of Burak, which offers a fresh perspective within the Juan Balucas franchise; Tatay sa Taas, an inspirational drama with elements of light comedy exploring acceptance, healing, and transformative human connections; and an adult-oriented film titled One Lucky B*st*rd!
Franco G. Arce endeavors to contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of Filipino filmmaking. His genuine passion for storytelling and his continuous pursuit of artistic growth make him a filmmaker committed to delivering compelling cinematic experiences.
Organized by the Municipal Government of San Mateo Rizal, Franco provided a comprehensive lecture on the fundamentals of filmmaking for the constituents of San Mateo Rizal. The workshop equipped aspirants with essential knowledge for creating short films, preparing them for the Short Filmmaking Contest, which was part of the Ani ng Sining, Bayang Malikhain activity held at SM San Mateo during the closing of the National Arts Month celebration. This educational initiative beautifully showcased the local government’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent.
Franco’s journey transcended borders when he co-founded Domination World Championships (DWC), an annual international hip-hop dance competition based in Brisbane, Australia.
DWC attracted dancers from various countries, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Japan. This event showcased incredible talent and passion within the hip-hop community and ran for three years, from 2017 through 2019. Under Franco’s visionary leadership, DWC became a platform for excellence, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.
DWC represented the pinnacle of human achievement, where competitors pushed their limits, celebrated diversity, and inspired others. It united people across cultures, fostering a sense of shared purpose and mutual respect, creating impactful experiences on a global stage.
